~Settling In~

I have to say that I'm getting rather fond of 'Blogger'.

Now I've found out how to tinker with things, it's much better than I first thought.

I just wish I knew how to increase the width of my entry column. It's a tad narrow for my liking.

I've looked at the HTML, but I can't find the tag to change it :-/

Whatever happened to these guys?

They did some classic stuff back in the mid-to-late 90's.

  1. I like the narrowness (is that a word?) of your blog. It's easy on the eye. Hugs.

  2. I know it's growing on me too. It's taken a little while. I still haven't messed with my layout at all though. It looks like your old page here!! Very cool :) Hope you have a good one.

  3. You saying your 'entry' 'column' is a bit small buddy?.....lol sorry, couldn't resist.

I'm starting to like it too. Like your piccie at the top.

I'm glad you like it :-)

I quite like how neat it looks, I'm just not keen on all that empty black space at the sides.

I've tried to make it look as much like my JS page as I could.

I need to work on the picture sizes though.

It's not the size of the boat, it's the motion of the ocean ;-P

  8. It is getting easier isn't it? I guess we're all adapting. Though, I still miss the homepage. Just gotta keep on keeping on...

I've been pleasantly surprised by the number of people who've 'followed' me :-)

I guess that I'd better pull my finger out and write something worth reading LOL!

    I miss the homepage too.

and being able to see who's online...

and being able to see who's visited your journal...

If Blogger would add those functions, the site would be pretty near perfect.

It's MUCH faster than JS was too.

It gets better once you actually find people, doesn't it?

Until then, it's a bit like being in solitary confinement.

  13. Yup, I miss those same things, Andy. But, I am also getting used to Blogger and I do like it.

  14. Your journal looks the most like your JS journal. That's very cool. Glad you are getting settled in. I'm getting used to it too.

There are quite a few who seem to have made their way here.

It's prett cool how you can link and comment on the journals of those who went over to WordPress too.

  19. I haven't even had the time to try and mess with my layout. I am almost afraid to touch it. I really enjoy yours though!

Thanks for the link, what a great journal!!!

I've used it to widen my main colunm...:-)

  23. Good, I'm glad it worked for you.

  24. I'm using the Simple II template, and of course I like the black, so I changed the color of the template. Mine is a two column, fluid width because as you know, I like the photos on the large size. Everything just moves over to fit. I would prefer a single column, but I don't want to mess with it just yet.

  25. Starting to get used to the big B site as well. More to the point, everyone else seems to be starting to get the hang of it and it's getting to be something the same in terms of community as JS was. At least not all is lost.

  26. I miss the aforementioned features from JS but this site I like a lot better than others. :)

We're here with our pals, that's the main thing.

Thanks again, that's an extremely useful journal you found there.

  28. Doug:

I love the simple black layout.

I'd been trying (and failing) to go back to a 2 column layout on JS before it went tits-up.

I guess this was one way of doing it!

Considering what happened with JS, I think that things are working out pretty well here :-)

  31. I just started a blog here last night, and I can sympathise with you regarding customisation – though I’m hoping to learn. Blogger’s use of variable names and widgets makes even minor tweaks rather forbidding compared with how it used to be on the customisation page of JS.

I went for a single-column layout myself, and increased the width of even that! But most people do prefer two- or three-column layouts, it must be said, and I may go for a two-column one after all.

As others have commented, yours does look very similar to your JS one, so I don’t think you need worry too much. The rule, as ever, is save your template before tampering with the layout! Good luck anyway.

  32. Andy, I love the width of your column! ;) kx

  33. I'm still figuring out how their code works. It's different from pure html that I do, and JSes, but I would like to say that I like the narrowness of yours. Unless you're going to be throwing up photos or something, then you'll need to change it.

When I first saw the HTML code here, I thought 'Lawks!!!'.

I like that I can still make posts with HTML code though :-)

I think that reading up on CSS would be a good idea.

I bet you say that to all the boys ;-P

  36. morphinekisses:

I think the layout here looks neater than my layout at JS, it's not so busy.

  37. Your layout looks good! I'll tinker around with mine when I have more time. Right now I'm just getting used to not having a homepage.

    ReplyDelete
  38. SiouxMaiden:

Yup, the homepage was one of those things that you didn't realise how useful it was until it was gone.

  39. Hey, I'm glad you found me. Thanks a lot for following. I look forward to reading you again. I always liked Suede. The guitarist is very talented and has what I think is a unique, intense sound. Cheers.
